Your information

Privacy.

Here’s what happens when you use Vote Blue.

Looking up your address

Address text is sent through our server to Photon, an OpenStreetMap search service, for suggestions. A complete address is sent to the U.S. Census Bureau to find your congressional district. We don’t create a voter profile or save your address in an application database. Lookup addresses can appear in your browser history and hosting request logs. Avoid sharing a lookup URL containing your address; share the district or candidate page instead.

Nearby results

Cloudflare provides an approximate location from your internet connection. We use your state and coarse coordinates to prioritize address suggestions and open nearby races. This doesn’t request your device’s precise location. You can always choose a different state.

Issue reports

Reports are private. We keep the message, the page you identify and any email address you choose to provide for up to 30 days so we can review the issue. Please leave out your home address and other sensitive information. Cloudflare’s rate limiter uses your connection to reduce spam; our report database doesn’t store your IP address.

Hosting and outside services

Cloudflare hosts this site and may process IP addresses, request details and security logs. Photon and the Census Bureau handle the searches described above. Their own privacy practices apply. This site doesn’t use advertising trackers or sell information you enter.

Saved candidates

Candidate bookmarks are stored in this browser, on this device. We do not send your shortlist to an application database or store your address with it. Remove a bookmark with its Saved button, or clear this site's browser data to remove all bookmarks. Lists do not sync between devices.
